From our president, Tung Nguyen:

As an organization that promotes progressive policies and empowers Vietnamese Americans, PIVOT is extremely pleased with the election results. We are proud that Kathy Tran won her election by nearly a 2 to 1 margin and will serve as the first Vietnamese American and Asian American in the Virginia House of Delegates. We are very excited that Bee Nguyen finished first in her Georgia House race and will be working hard to support her in the runoff election on December 5th. The results in these races and in the other elections show that Americans are rejecting Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant policies and his repeated attempts to deprive Americans of their healthcare. And most importantly, these victories affirm that America will not stand for racism and hatred, and Vietnamese Americans will be at the front of the struggle for justice.

Thank you all so much for pitching in wherever you can—donating, cheering, commiserating, and particularly, thank you to PIVOT DMV and PIVOT Georgia for tirelessly making phone calls and knocking on doors. This is only the beginning of our quest!
