PIVOT Update: Working together for our freedom with the victory of Prop 50 in California

California voters passed Proposition 50 this week to counteract the Republican efforts to rig the mid-term Congressional elections. As John Lewis said, “Freedom is not a state; it is an act.”  The Prop 50 campaign is the latest example of how PIVOT is working effectively and collaboratively for the freedom of Vietnamese Americans and all Americans.

Through the tireless work of our volunteers and staff, PIVOT leveraged our deep community ties to ensure that California's half million Vietnamese American voters—a critical and potentially decisive electorate—are effectively reached through messages tailored to the community and communicated in both Vietnamese and English.

In only 8 weeks, PIVOT has:

  • Organized a bilingual postcard writing campaign with our volunteers that sent out 17,000 postcards to Vietnamese American voters in California

  • Sent out more than 20,000 get-out-the-vote texts in English and Vietnamese to Vietnamese American voters in the last week of the campaign

  • Appeared on Vietnamese language television and streaming channels, reaching more than 800,000 Vietnamese Americans, to explain and advocate for Prop 50.

These remarkable achievements were the work of PIVOT’s volunteers, staff, and partners. They were supported by many small donors whose donations were matched by our generous matching donors. As we celebrate this successful campaign, we also celebrate everyone who made this possible.

Please join with us and work for your freedom, for our freedom, because we will need you in the 2026 elections and beyond.  Let others know about PIVOT. Join PIVOT as a volunteer. Support our ongoing work with your donation here.
